Biography
Dr. Mark Tillman brings over 26 years of experience in higher education, leadership, teaching, and research. He was appointed Dean of the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ on June 1, 2020.
Before joining 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, Dr. Tillman served as Dean of the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services at Kennesaw State University, Dean of Health and Human Services at Troy University, and Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion at Troy University.
Originally trained in engineering, Dr. Tillman earned his Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the University of Florida, where he later served for 13 years as an Assistant and Associate Professor. Over his career, he has taught more than 10,000 undergraduate students, served on over 100 graduate student committees, and has been recognized twice as Teacher of the Year at the college level.
A Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a Distinguished Member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Dr. Tillman was also named the 2022 Outstanding Alumnus by the University of Florida’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Dr. Tillman’s research focuses on lower extremity biomechanics and biomechanics for special populations. His interdisciplinary work includes 80 refereed publications, 20 funded grants, and numerous scientific presentations. His leadership training includes participation in the Troy University Chancellor’s Fellows Program and the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education Leader Development Workshops.
