Marine Science Summer Camps Ages 11 – 18
In-Person Summer Camp


Led by JU Marine Science faculty and graduate students, you will be involved with all aspects of marine science. Spend the week learning numerous field work techniques and gaining hands-on experience by using standard marine science collection and monitoring equipment, as well as laboratory analysis methods. Data will be collected at the institute along the waterfront and at off-site locations around the city of Jacksonville.
The faculty will also be assisted by staff from Florida Fish and Wildlife and St. Johns Riverkeeper.

June 22nd – 26th
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Monday to Friday.
Ages 14-18
This five-day Marine Science Camp for high school students combines hands-on science, outdoor exploration, and fun group activities. Throughout the week, campers explore marine biology through lab work, field experiences, and interactive lessons. Special themed days include Turtle Tuesday, featuring sea turtle biology and conservation activities, and Dolphin Thursday, focused on dolphin behavior, research, and marine mammal science. Recreational activities such as swimming, beach games, and group lunches help create a balanced and enjoyable camp experience.

Ages 11-13
This three-day Marine Science Summer Camp for middle school students offers an engaging blend of hands-on science, field exploration, and recreational activities. Campers participate in boat trips, marine lab safety training, dissections, plankton studies, turtle workshops, and specimen labs, gaining real-world exposure to marine science concepts. Recreational highlights such as a pool trip, outdoor activities, and group lunches create a fun, balanced environment. The camp is designed to inspire curiosity, scientific thinking, and appreciation for marine ecosystems through immersive experiences.
