Why Choose Our Program?
Students majoring in finance develop the skills necessary for careers in fields like asset management, investment banking, financial management, and mergers and acquisitions. Our students learn practical decision-making skills that give them an edge in their careers.
The core curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge necessary to prepare for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams.
In the spirit of fostering meaningful technical competencies, our program connects theory and practice. The Dolphin Student Investment Fund (DSIF) is a student-managed portfolio in excess of $900,000 as of August 2021. The program provides students with valuable hands-on investment experience. Student analysts manage the assets directly, often making decisions about asset sales and purchases that total $100,000 or more. Members of the DSIF team have competed in the CFA Challenge and have gained national and international acclaim.
Curriculum guides are subject to change per academic year.

Dolphin Student Investment FundHands-on Experience
The Dolphin Student Investment Fund (DSIF) and the FinTech Lab have become vital resources of the Department of Accounting and Finance as well as the Davis College of Business & Technology. Our research databases include S&P Capital IQ, ExecuComp, Mergent Online, and Black Knight Mortgage data. The value of these resources is seen on many levels. Notably, our CFA team won the title of America regional champion in 2018 and Florida champion three times (2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019) in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Research Challenge, a worldwide competition sponsored by CFA Institute. Further, the FinTech Lab provides students with the opportunity for profound research and analysis of real-world companies to evaluate financial performance and investment valuations. These opportunities enhance students’ ability to apply their technical knowledge to real-world situations during their careers.
