Dr. Dan McCarthy, professor of biology at 91香蕉视频 for more than 20 years and a proud JU alum, fondly recalled the transformative influence Dr. White had on his life and career. As a former undergraduate student of Dr. White, Dr. McCarthy credited him with shaping not only his academic pursuits but also his professional aspirations. 鈥淭hank you for being such a supporter, a facilitator, as I was making my way towards my dreams.鈥�
Dr. Franks concluded the evening鈥檚 remarks by stressing the far-reaching impact of Dr. White's work.鈥淭he positive changes we've seen in our city and region are a testament to the impact you've had. Hundreds, likely thousands, of people working in a multitude of fields鈥攑eople who crossed paths with you as a faculty member, educator, colleague, or friend鈥攁re leaving the world a better place because of the lessons, ideas, and inspiration you imparted,鈥� said Dr. Franks.
Dr. White will be honored as the 2024 Marine Science Pioneer Award recipient, recognizing his significant impact on the field of marine science. This award, established by Dr. White, has been given to other luminaries in the field, making his selection especially meaningful.
