Ability Housing

The Solution That Saves is one of three pilot sites, which will provide Florida-specific data quantifying the cost benefits of providing permanent supportive housing to individuals who are frequent users of crisis services. It will also evaluate the improved health and personal outcomes of pilot participants.

In Northeast Florida, The Solution That Saves consists of 90 units of permanent supportive housing that are targeted to low-income persons who are homeless or unstably housed and identified as high utilizers of crisis services.  The housing is a combination of 52 apartments operated by Ability Housing and 38 apartments rented in the community.

The pilot is led by Ability Housing and consists of a coalition of numerous nonprofits, area hospitals and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Health-Tech Consultants, Inc., in collaboration with JU’s Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences, is responsible for the program evaluation. This project is in its second year of implementation.  A summary of the evaluation results is attached
