Dr. Borden is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and qualified supervisor in Florida. She served as the Palm Coast Clinical Director from 2021 to 2024 and, in August 2024, assumed the role of Program Director for the CMHC department. Before joining the JU faculty, Dr. Borden worked as an elementary school teacher, a school-based mental health counselor, and a counselor for justice-involved youth.

Dr. Borden’s clinical interests include trauma-informed care. Over the past decade, she has established herself as a trauma professional by completing training in EMDR, ART, TF-CBT, and trauma and resiliency. She incorporates evidence-based practices to promote resilience among her clients. Her research interests focus on school-based mental health counseling and the mental health concerns of child and adolescent girls.

Dr. Borden has collaborated with girl-serving agencies such as DCPS, Girl Scouts, and the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, leveraging her knowledge of adolescent development and mental health. She teaches and advises students primarily at the CMHC Arlington site.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Borden enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, cherishing her role as an aunt, exploring new travel destinations, and diving into enriching reads.
