Biography
David Marble is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Aeronautics at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s School of Aviation in the Davis College of Business and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the United States Naval Academy in May 1979.
He was designated a Naval Aviator in September of 1981 upon completion of his flight training. His first operational tour was with Attack Squadron 46 in Carrier Air Wing One onboard the USS America (CV-66) flying the A-7E Corsair II. After a three-year sea duty tour, he joined Attack Squadron 174 as an A-7E Instructor Pilot.
In June 1987, he left active duty and was hired by Delta Air Lines while continuing his Navy career as a pilot in the Naval Reserve.
During his 35-year Delta Air Lines career, he amassed over 20,000 hours of flight time and obtained type ratings on the Boeing 727,737,757,767 and 777 aircraft. Additionally, he worked several years on Delta’s pilot hiring team.
He retired from Delta Air Lines after a 35-year career in October 2022 and was subsequently rehired by Delta as a pilot hiring team member on a part time basis.
He was pleased to accept a position in the JU School of Aviation, teaching and mentoring the next generation of professional aviators.
